Origins
The Alpha Pharm Retail Group is a nationwide, marketing-driven organisation that offers sustained promotion and support to an ever-growing network of independent retail pharmacists.

Two realities...
New legislation arrived along with increasing government intervention. One thing became unmistakably clear: it is practically impossible for the individual retail pharmacist to thrive alone. The risk of being swallowed up by large corporates is huge. The dedicated career pharmacist seems to be facing a choice between the head (being employed by a corporate group)...and the heart (struggling along as a standalone retailer).
Brand strength is of paramount importance world.

As pharmacists, we at Alpha Pharm Retail know the intrinsic value of self actualisation...of empowering a pharmacist to own his or her own retail business. We also recognise the benefit of having regular clientèle that make a beeline for "my pharmacist" in this day and age.

Alpha Pharm Retail Management, or ARM as we are known, was established to assist the independent pharmacist who cannot compete with the big corporates, whilst establishing a strong national brand to give consumers consistency and predictability in service and goods.

ARM invites independent pharmacists to become franchise members of the Alpha Pharm Retail Group, which offers all the corporate benefits of independent private pharmacy chains, whilst protecting the individual pharmacy owner's independence and autonomy.

Joining the Alpha Pharm Retail Group means inheriting an instantly-recognisable national brand, associated with quality products and professional service. Pre-approved external advertising includes decals and corporate livery which immediately identifies franchises as Alpha Pharm Retail Group members. Additional elements include corporate clothing, name badges and welcome mats.
The National ARM office in Centurion streamlines nationwide negotiations with wholesalers, suppliers and service providers on behalf of its members.

Monthly Advertising
Members benefit, at no extra charge, from our regular monthly advertising campaigns using shelf talkers, and Alpha First the first monthly publication in pharmacy. Alpha Pharm regularly utilises TV advertising to reinforce the brand.

In-store Media Channel
At no extra cost to our members, we offer this in-pharmacy tool that enables communication between the suppliers and your clients. This digital network lets participants reach over a million consumers every month, and has also been used as a training tool via a closed circuit media channel.

Medical Aid Reconciliation
We offer our members a highly accurate, off-site, computerised medical aid reconciliation program that saves time, thereby putting the pharmacists back in control of his/her problem area.

Alpha Pharm Lifestyle Clinics
This initiative is intended as an affordable and comprehensive healthcare solution to assist the pharmacist in effectively running a clinic as an independent profit centre within the pharmacy.

Cellular Initiative
The cellular industry is currently the fastest growing industry in South Africa. This initiative enables our members access to this lucrative business by benefiting from increase feet and an extensive TV campaign.

Continuing Education Program
This is an independently developed education program approved by the Pharmaceutical Council. This program is sponsored by ARM and is available free of charge to all members.

The Guilds
Guilds are regional discussion and coordinating groups that serve as a forum to our members, where they get together and discuss concerns and where we collectively troubleshoot any issues.
